Tamga gorge is the nearest to Tamga guesthouse and the most accessible place for hiking and trekking tours. The name of this gorge was given by the stone Tamga-Tash. From Kyrgyz language “Tamga” means “stamp”, “Tash” is “stone”. Tibetan script was engraved on this stone in VIII-IX, and they were perfectly preserved to this day. It will take you about 4-5 hours to hike to Tamga-Tash. If you decide to take a horse for this tour, you can keep within 2-3 hours.
For longer hiking, you can make a route to the upper reaches of the Tamga gorge. Tamga gorge consists of several smaller gorges, and this allows you to make a one-day walk by starting it from the Tamga settlement to the Tamga-Tash stone. Then ascend the right part of Jolborst to the foot of Ter Peak.
Here you can perfectly walk around the beautiful spruce forest, collect mushrooms or just relax. Here will be the beautiful panoramic view of the Issyk-Kul valley. Then go down along another gorge to the Tamga village.
