Kegety Gorge

Among the gorges located near of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, there is one the most beautiful - Kegety gorge. Here is the waterfall about 20 meters high. And Kegety Gorge also hides the more beautiful gift in the upper reaches there is a lake with beautiful turquoise water.

Among the gorges located near of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, there is one the most beautiful - Kegety gorge. It is located 90 km from the Bishkek.

For those who are not interested in long excursions there is very good destination - the waterfall, it won’t take much time and give you lots of pleasure and impressions. Hiking to the waterfall is easy and available for travelers of all ages. The height of the waterfall is about 20 meters.

Kegety Gorge also hides the more beautiful gift. There is also very interesting right confluent of the Kegety River – Köl-Tor, which forms quite a large and very beautiful gorge in the upper reaches there is a lake with beautiful turquoise water. The lake is located at an altitude of 2725 m and is accessible only for experienced travelers. From Köl-Tor gorge further you can get to the Bel-Saz jailoo (alpine meadow) to Sharkiratma waterfall and to Kara-Unkur crying cave.

Three kilometers above the lake there are moraines and large glaciers of Köl-Tor and Anastasia, easily visible from the lake. Through the passes located here you can get to the neighboring gorge Tuyuk-Shamsinskiy and Kegety.

The slopes of the gorge are mainly covered by steppe tall grass meadows, as well as trees of the forest and artisan type. A lot of useful medicine herbs grow on the slopes of the gorge.

 In 5-6 km from the forestry on the left side of the Kegety River a small stream flows into the river, which in 100 meters from the road forms a beautiful 20 meter waterfall. The waterfall falls from the limestone terrace and is located close to the road passing through the valley, which is convenient for tourists. Above the highway for 10 kilometers periodically washed away by mudflow. Here is the second major tributary of the Kegety River - At-Jailoo, located 11 km from the forestry. At-Jailoo gorge forms a beautiful tract, known for its now abandoned mines.
